Diversity has many facets. A key one for us is gender diversity and equality in the workplace.
On March 22 we invited the Women in ICT Society, of the University of Melbourne, to experience Sportsbet hospitality, and connect with a variety of our team members from across Technology and HR.
Women in ICT’s, Bahar Salehi, described the Society ethos as “inspiring and supporting females to select IT as a career path” so we tailored the event to ensure every opportunity to support their philosophy and share our values.
Our Head of Business Analysis, Sheila Broadley, captivated the audience as our keynote presenter, speaking of her personal career journey, including challenges, opportunities and lessons learned. Sheila inspired all in attendance to believe, be passionate, and to be brave. One of the guests stating “I feel like I can achieve anything after that speech!”
As our future female leaders of IT (currently doing their Undergrad and Masters at the University of Melbourne) the networking at the beginning, and to close the event, generated a terrific buzz. “The opportunity to connect with the Sportsbet staff was excellent, I gained so much valuable advice and guidance” a Society member shared.
Wouldn’t be surprised if we see a few of the Women in ICT Society members in our next assembly of awesome Graduates to Sportsbet!
