Sportsbet.com.au has launched its charity incubator program, with the Orange Pigeon (the only charity dedicated to granting wishes for terminally and chronically ill adults) announced as the first organisation to enter the 18-month program.
On top of a $50,000 injection, the Orange Pigeon has its own dedicated office space at Sportsbet’s Collins Street headquarters and will receive 24/7 access to Sportsbet’s market leading HR, Finance, Marketing and Technology teams, as well as mentoring from the Sportsbet Executive team.
The launch of Sportsbet’s charity incubator program also saw the unveiling of a new logo and branding for Orange Pigeon, with finding a CEO the next step.
Founder Jenny Howell-Clark started Orange Pigeon in 2011 after close friend Nadine was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer only four months after giving birth to her third daughter. Nadine’s wish was to attend the AFL Grand Final and see her beloved Geelong win the Premiership and through Howell-Clark’s tenacity and the kindness of corporate partners, Nadine had her wish granted – and it was from there that Orange Pigeon was launched.
“Nadine enjoyed the day and Geelong won for her! The next day I saw a massive difference in her. She was buzzing and full of beans, something that she hadn’t been for a long time. I knew that this was the beginning of something and set about starting The Orange Pigeon – as a legacy to Nadine,” Howell-Clark said.
“We are so excited to be partnering with Sportsbet. They are good people and their passion about charity work has been evident from day one as is their willingness to help take The Orange Pigeon to the next level.”
“I wanted to be able to help others and since we launched the Orange Pigeon we have granted 126 wishes of all shapes and sizes but we have a big vision for the Orange Pigeon so getting the support required to do that has been hard to find.”
Sportsbet HR Director Tania Abbotto said Sportsbet was proud to be partnering with the Orange Pigeon.
“We believe in the Orange Pigeon’s vision and we are excited about what we can achieve together,” Abbotto said.
“Jenny and her team are special people and what they’ve done for the community is nothing short of amazing. Through the incubator program, we are committed to supporting the Orange Pigeon to grow and achieve its goals.”
“Our team members are passionate and socially conscious people and immediately threw their support behind the incubator program. They have offered up their time, skills and talents to help the Orange Pigeon grant many of the pending wishes.”
